Blue Hydrangea

Oil on 30x30cm (12x12") panel, mounted and framed.
I have become fascinated by the tonal shifts of hydrangeas. This  is my favourite combination, a riot of blue, violet and pink. Here I'm exploring the idea of an overall pattern. The glorious colours are blended on the panel and the leaves and petals simply suggested by scoring through the paint.
