I'm always amazed at how many different varieties of iris there are, all with such beautiful colour combinations. At the centre of the painting, large purple irises are in various stages of bloom, and to me they seem to be reaching for the sky. Surrounding the irises, a lush green backdrop of foliage creates a sense of depth and movement.
