The Algarve Coast

I travelled to the Algarve in Portugal specifically to paint this amazing coastline. I had long wanted to portray the golden cliffs and stacks, contrasted with those azure seas.
This was an extremely hot day during a heat-wave, but luckily I found a little headland with some shade, off the beaten track. What a fabulous time I had painting 'alla prima' in one layer of thick, luscious oil paint. 
This little painting looks stunning in its new deep, off-white frame, and will transport you back to your summer travels during dark winter days.
