This year I returned to the beautiful Glenwhan Gardens near Stranraer, to stay for three nights in their cosy Shepherd's Hut. It was a privilege to remain and paint all day and into the evening, after the crowds had gone home. So much thought has gone into the creation of these gardens, you can tell it was the dream and life's work of an artist. I heartily recommend a visit if you find yourself in the mild climate of southwest Scotland. This is still my favourite view across the lake towards the hill, planted with such a variety of plants.
